One Banana, Two Banana

Revisiting Fruits of the Loon for the purposes of Instagram lead to me once again facing arch nemesis Banana: the fruit that foiled like no other.

And so ensued the Round Two found below in which the message very much seems to confound the notion ‘if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again’—a very much metaphorical butting one’s head like a stubborn ram against an even more so barn door, imo—in favour of a far more ‘step away, clear the mind and come back later’ approach.

However Round Two is a two verse affair hence its title; and really therefore is perhaps more appropriately called a Rematch with the verses instead representative of rounds. It’s also somewhat possible it doesn’t really matter. Either way, as always it is for you the reader to decide the outcome; in this instance as a boxing referee lifting either my boxing-gloved but somehow still typing hand in the air or a ripe banana (with thanks to Mockup Graphics for use of the header image of a gun-shaped banana):

I went downstairs
To get a quick snack
Then came back up
Like stealthy Black Ops
Under attack
Pew-pew-pew!
Said to the cat
Banana gun
I would take you
On the run
Somewhat concealed
In a way cops would think
You real
And not a case
Of my being touched
By their presence, dear
I’d foil filthy coppers
With your elusive skin
Peelers slipping
Keystone ice rink
Sliding into everyone
It will be
So much fun
Banana gun
Being fugitive
With a curvy weapon
Full of potassium

Except you’re not
And I haven’t lost the plot
The idea you are
An urban legend
A downright good for nothing
Dirty myth
Yes, you might well be curvy
Banana
But a twist like this
Is beyond even you
My poetic meter foiled
Actually
Totally f-ing destroyed
By my stupidly inherent
Desire
To check all the facts
Instead of just leave that
To some other . . . f-ker
Let them be the pedant
Who says actually
Comparatively
They hardly have any
Are seventy-five percent
Water
And a major source
Of starch
For many people
While just a mere
One percent protein
That being the respect
In which it’s most
Annoying
For despite
Such menial strength
Banana you remain
Victorious
In the ongoing war
Against my quest
To capture your bend
In poetic form

Thanks for reading 🙂
