Jesus is a Clothes Peg (though some modern Christians claim a tumble dryer instead)

Any true believers reading this may well think an atheist like me is trivialising their Lord; but I say unto them: REPENT! for it is you who doth not realise the Good Book for a metaphor!

With thanks to Missy Stinson for use of the header image (licensing).

I’d brought the washing in from the line
All the way upstairs in fact
Only to discover
That actually
Despite ‘best’ efforts
When in the garden
All the way down there
Everything still had areas of damp

It was a good couple of minutes
Of looking around the room
Wondering where best
To hang the likes of
Inadequately dried pillowcases
Before conceding
The only realistic option
Was to take them back down
And hang everything back up
On the line again

It was as I did this
That the true insidious nature
Of what had just happened
Sank in
The implication of that reluctance
To immediately see and take
The only option
The deep discord it meant

True
The Devil at my side
Whispering in my ear
Leading to a few musty pillows
Wouldn’t be
The greatest sin of all
No
But the possibility to be led
By those soft enticing words
In the first place
Could very well be
My downfall

Thanks for reading 🙂
